Our Story

Factor10 is about passion—a passion for helping everyone reach their full potential through Martial Arts.

Factor10 Martial Arts was founded by Master Damien O'Flaherty in 1989 at the TAFE College in Innisfail where he taught Taekwondo classes on a concrete floor in a large storage hall. Master O holds a 6th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo and a 5th Dan Black Belt in Hapkido.

Master O’s qualifications as a school teacher and curriculum writer have allowed for the development of our programs and syllabus that strives for excellence whilst being mindful of both child and adult educational principles.

Today, Factor10 is owned by Head Instructor Maddy Houston, who began her Taekwondo journey with Factor10 Martial Arts in 2002 and has been under the leadership and guidance of Master O ever since, where in 2023 she achieved the Taekwondo rank of 5th Dan Black Belt. Miss Houston is passionate about our programs and sharing the life skills of Martial Arts.

Factor10 Martial Arts has given us so much, and through our programs we hope to give that same opportunity to others. It’s about helping people get the very best out of life through martial arts.
