20 Queensland club members have been selected to represent their country at the Commonwealth Championships in November 2014 at Scotland in sparring and poomsae. This representation comes at considerable cost to themselves, their family and their clubs. Several have already this year spent large sums of money to represent Australia overseas.
Several instructors have got together to formulate the ‘Commonwealth Players Championships’ to assist the athletes in their journey.
All funds attained from this tournament will be given directly to the athletes to assist in their journey. No person or company will be paid any money for the day.
It will be held at the Carindale PCYC on the 25th of October 2014 commencing at 2pm. At this stage we propose to start with the little ones and work our way up to the Seniors to finish last. We will be running two sparring courts and one poomsae court. The PCYC has kindly given the venue for use for free to facilitate the event and also given use of their kitchen for free. All electronic systems, mats and computers have also been donated for free for the event. Peter at Internet entries is also donating his service for free and you can register on line. The STQ facebook page has the link.

We encourage all volunteers, referees, officials and supporters to also donate their time for free to lower the overheads and increase funding.
There will be no medals or trophies given out at this event to keep costs down.
We ask for your support in this event and for volunteers to assist and go on line and register. We will also need food (home baked cakes, rolls etc) to be donated that may assist in the event which could be sold from the canteen, much in the same as a home bake sale.
