Academy Hamadang

Academy Hamadang

Sunday, 21 June 2009

I would like to invite you and your family to participate in the next Academy Hamadang scheduled for Sunday 21 June from 8am to 1pm.

I am also writing to make sure all families at the Academy know why the Hamadang is so essential in the development of the all round Martial Artist and to encourage you to participate in the coming event on 21 June.

Our target is 100 participants. 100 is a Factor of 10 so we know this will make Sunday 21 June a great morning for all families involved.

Hamadang is the traditional name for a “technical display or competition” where people come together to demonstrate their expertise in a range of martial arts technical moves. Participation in a Hamadang is a crucial part of ones development as a Martial Artist as it provides a range of technical disciplines for a Martial Artist to “test their skills” at.

The exciting disciplines or events of the Hamadang include Poomse, Timber and Tile Breaking, Self Defence, High Kick and Fly Side Kick. There are also more freestyle aspects of the wonderful events of Poomse and Self Defence known as Creative Poomse and Creative Self Defence. We have members who have prepared extraordinary displays in these events that you will find so exciting.

I am often asked by members and parents about what they can do to benefit most from their training at the Academy. I use the example of a soccer player training to prepare for a game of soccer. If they did not have a game every now and then, the training would seem pointless. Well, Martial Arts training is no different. Everyone needs an opportunity to give their training some purpose. All belt levels need this sense of purpose.

The Academy demonstration team will be performing for you on the day – a spectacular high performance display rarely seen! Don’t miss out on seeing our demo team perform – you will be blown away! This on its own will make Sunday 21 June a great morning out for your family and friends. Entry is free for spectators.

Don’t forget to make the effort and get your Hamadang entry in at reception if you have not already – it’s an absolute must for the developing martial artist and a great family day out.

By the way, for any members or mums and dads thinking of taking a real active role in the Hamadang, please let me know if you would like to assist with officiating or marshaling on the day. Your children will really be excited by your participation as a parent. Being on the mats where the actions is does not get any better!

Please feel free to contact me on 0433 42 88 58 should you have any further enquiries about our Hamadang on Sunday 21 June.

Sincerely
