Child Abduction Attempt, PETRIE

Abduction, Petrie-comfit-SmallPolice have released the following comfit image of a man involved in a child abduction attempt in Petrie at 3.15 yesterday afternoon. A 9-year-old boy had been walking along Woonara Street around 3.15pm when a car pulled up and stopped beside him.
The male driver and sole occupant exited the vehicle, approached the boy, and engaged him in conversation, attempting t…o entice the child into the vehicle.
The man then placed his hand on the boy’s shoulder at which time the boy ran off.
The man, who is described as aged in his 30s, with short black hair and a fair complexion, returned to his vehicle and drove off. The man was wearing a black long sleeved shirt with a round neck and the word ‘Quicksilver’ written on the front, black tracksuit pants and thongs.
The car is believed to have been a small white or silver one, with a dent in the front passenger side door.
Police have released a comfit image of a man who could assist them with their investigations.Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Parents we believe that children should be with a carer approved by you at all times and they should therefore never be on their own.  This is an essential rule of child protection that should never be broken.
