Grand Master Lee Visits

World renowned Grand Master Sung Soo Lee is visiting Factor10 Martial Arts on Saturday and Sunday 21 and 22 November 2009. Grand Master Sung Soo Lee is Master Damien O’Flaherty’s instructor, mentor and teacher.
Grand Master Sung Soo Lee holds a 9th Dan in Taekwondo, 9th Dan in Hapkido and a second Dan black belt in Judo. A world acclaimed Grand Master of the Ancient Martial Arts, Sung Soo Lee enlightens all those he touches.
Born in Seoul Korea, Grand Master Lee commenced his training at the age of 17 when he joined Taekwondo Jidokwan in 1953. He went on to achieve a greatness unparalleled by Masters across the country, training in Judo and Hapkido and achieving black belt qualifications in all.
In 1956 Grand Master Lee achieved his 1st Dan in Taekwondo and from 1958 to 1960 he was the USA 8th Military Army Taekwondo Instructor in Seoul and Osan, Korea.
In 1959 he achieved a 1st Dan in Judo with the Korea Judo Association and in 1961 he began training in Hapkido whilst serving in the Korean Army.
While Grand Master Lee’s physical and sporting achievements pursuits are clearly a cut above the rest, he also achieved academic excellence. In 1963 he was awarded a Bachelor Degree in Physical Education at the Seoul University. No doubt this prompted an interest by the media in his many talents with Master Lee being the Sports Writer with the Orient Press from 1963 to 1973.
Grand Master Sung Soo Lee was appointed the Singapore Team Coach in 1972 for a two-year period and was their coach at the first World Taekwondo Championships in Seoul. From 1972 he was a Taekwondo Lecturer at the Seoul National University.
Amongst a range of other achievements in Australia, Grand Master Lee was appointed as the Australian team leader for the World Taekwondo Championships in Taiwan in 1979, was appointed as the President of the then Australian Taekwondo Council in 1975 and was President of Australian Taekwondo Union from 1991 to1993.
Grand Master Lee’s qualifications are recognised world wide as he currently holds a World Taekwondo Federation 9th Dan, a Korea Hapkido Federation 9th Dan, a Taekwondo Jidokwan 9th Dan and 2nd Dan in Judo.
Singing and playing guitar and organ are one of Grand Master Lee’s pursuits. With thousands of students and instructors across the globe, Grand Master Lee works tirelessly supporting them to develop physically and with correct Martial Art spirit and etiquette.
