Black belt gradings a hit!

Black belt gradings a hit!

Saturday, 27 November 2010

I never ceased to be amazed by what our members are doing at Factor10, especially when it comes to their black belt gradings. The last month has seen some really “out there” performances with people like we saw last week from our young teenage rising start Jay Saunders – seen above doing his trademark double jump front kick.

At the ripe old age of 15 Jay has a very bright future. This guy has to be seen to be believed and his talents don’t just stop there with his ability to do great martial arts techniques. Jay is a great instructor working with our fabulous Little Legends group under the watchful guidance of Mrs O. He is part of our TID (Talent ID) tournament training squad and is really making giant steps in this area also. By the way, this 15 year young lad scored an 11.5 on the beep test last Friday night, and I thought my 10.5 was great! In our sit up test this groover pumped out 300 sit ups at which time I was sick of counting and told him to rest. His physical ability is great and he applies it so well across his sparring, poomse and kicking. Watch this space for this guy in the future.

In the past month we have seen other extraordinary black belt grading talent with people like Ben Park, Bob Large, Chelsea Clarke, Carole Baker and John Gurnett to mention just a few. I am going to do some feature stories on these people as they enter our black belt “hall of fame”. They are very humble people, but as the Master Instructor of Factor10 I just cannot let another day go past without mentioning these men and women, boys and girls who are achieving some amazing things for themselves, their families and their lives in general – in and out of the gym.

Our next feature story will be about Ben Park, a great talent I mentioned earlier in this article who graded to probationary black belt in Hapkido. This guy is one lean, fit and focussed martial arts machine you just don’t want to give a hard time out there on the street. I can give you an absolute cast iron guarantee that this bloke will not let you bully him, not one little bit.

An optometrist running his own business in a local suburb, Ben is an absolute pleasure to be around, a gentle man, a new age guy, but under that genuine great guy personality rests a martial arts extraordinaire. I really do pity anyone who is foolish to pick on Ben. Isn’t that what we want, people who are great community members, fit, healthy, great family people, who can really look after themselves. Well, enough of that, as I did say I would feature Ben, and others, in my next article about our black belts.

You have a great week and love life!

Mr O
