Martial Business Basics & Essentials – An Intro

Friday 22 July 2011
This blogg aims to introduce our series of information articles that are a free publication of Factor10 Martial Arts designed to assist people operating a Martial Arts business.

It is a “must read” for anyone planning to or currently operating a Martial Arts Business – or Martial Business – as we refer to it.  These free information articles are part of our many community based contributions to the Martial Arts industry.   It’s titled “Martial Business – Basics and Essentials” for a very good reason. That is, any Martial business owner or operator not following the basics outlined in this document will have a Martial Arts school that is characterised by one or more of the following, namely, a Martial business that suffers from:

1. A lack of money leading to poor cash flow and likely bankruptcy
2. Chasing fees from members every month
3. A lack of instructors and so the owner teaches most if not all the classes
4. A low number or irregular enquiries
5. Enquiries that lead to a trial but few full member sign ons
6. The head instructor feeling frustrated in trying to get everyone to teach the right way
7. Throwing money at advertising campaigns that result in little real returns
8. A lack of statistical information about how the school is really going
9. No stats on member sign on rates, conversion rates, cancellation rates or grading rates
10. Few to no systems across the 7 centers of business operation, namely Leadership, Marketing,
Management, Money, Lead Generation, Lead Conversion and Client Fulfillment.

This list of the symptoms of a failing Martial business or one that is literally living on “borrowed time” is not definitive, as we could go on forever listing the things that will result should the Martial business basics detailed in the following bloggs not be adopted.

At Factor10 we have designed detailed systems that have been tried, tested and proven in a full time Martial Arts centre in a way they have stood the test of time – through both good economic times and bad – and in an environment where the head instructor or Master is not an essential day to day part of the operating fabric of the business.

In fact, at Factor10 Martial Arts, the Master Instructor, founder and business owner can walk at a moments notice and the business functions the same. The classes run as scheduled, on time, every time. The instructors teach what they are meant to and in a way that is consistent from one instructor to the next. The training fees arrive every time, in full, without ever asking. Enquiries are handled the same way every time, and our conversion rates are excellent. Got the idea?

Our systems cover the 7 centers of business operation and we explain these in our Martial business series of articles. We know at Factor10 that our systems run the martial business and the people run the systems. Why do we know that? Because we are doing it right now.

At Factor10 Martial Arts, we believe in the age old saying, “Don’t tell me … Show me!”. We are systems focussed across the 7 centers of business operation and that’s why we are successful, right now … today …. at creating the most extraordinary Martial Arts experience for people – one person at a time.

So read on and enjoy the many Martial Business articles we have published for free.  These articles are, in a sense, part of the “fruits of labour” of what we at Factor10 have discovered from operating in the industry since 1989. We are happy to share our insights and hope you can benefit from our experience.   After all, isn’t that how people learn in the Martial Arts – by one person passing their knowledge on to another?
